Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli

Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli is one of the most highly regarded Italian sopranos on the international early music scene. Trained at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan and holding a second-level degree from the “Girolamo Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara under Mirella Freni, she further refined her artistry alongside major figures such as Luciano Pavarotti, Alessandra Molinari, Sonia Prina, Fernando Opa, and Vivica Genaux. She is currently continuing her advanced studies with Francesco Miotti.

Her career, strongly focused on the philological revival of Baroque and eighteenth-century repertoire, has led her to collaborate with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles, including Accademia Bizantina under Ottavio Dantone, La Venexiana with Claudio Cavina, Il Complesso Barocco with Alan Curtis, Les Talens Lyriques with Christophe Rousset, and Europa Galante with Fabio Biondi.

Francesca has performed at major international festivals (including Styriarte in Graz, the Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt, the Handel Festival in Halle, and the Baroque Festival in Rome), also distinguishing herself through her choice of leading roles in rediscovered operas such as La Rosinda, Artemisia and Veremonda by Francesco Cavalli, Achille in Sciro by Sarro, La Dori by Cesti, Antigono by Gluck, and Mirandolina by Bohuslav Martinů. Her repertoire also includes Mozart titles such as Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, and La clemenza di Tito.

In recent years she has made her debut in prestigious venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Teatro Real in Madrid, and has recorded numerous CDs for international labels including Glossa, Oehms Classics, Berlin Classics, and Naxos. Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, with her refined vocal artistry, philological commitment, and ability to combine historical rigour with emotional engagement, stands out as a leading figure on the Baroque and Classical music scene, capable of transcending national and artistic boundaries to establish herself as a reference interpreter of eighteenth-century repertoire.
