Marija Jovanovic

born in Belgrade, concluded her studies in Organ at the University of Belgrade and then at the Conservatory of Venice.

In 2005 she graduated with highest honors in Harpsichord under M. Vincenzi following in 2008 with her Master’s degree in Harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments; in 2013 a degree in Gregorian Chant and in 2017 a degree in Baroque singing.

Her interest in Baroque and Renaissance music has led her to take advanced seminars and workshops with H. Vogel, P. Crivellaro, L. Ghielmi, H. Faghius, U. Forni, and F. Cera in Italy, Germany and The Netherlands.

She is active as a solo organist and harpsichordist but also works with various early music chamber groups with whom she performed in Italy and other european countries , but also in China, South Corea and United States.

Also interested in contemporary music she collaborated with several composers and performed as a soloist at various festivals, including the 56th International Festival of Contemporary Music-Biennale di Venezia and CaminoControCorrente.

As a singer, she’s a part of Ensemble Oktoechos, a group specialized in medieval vocal performance. She collaborated with groups Un Unum ensemble and Reverdie. For the foundation “Benetton Studi Ricerche”, guided by Claudia Caffagni she was a part of the group that transcribed from medieval scores and later performed and recorded DuFay’s mass Se la face ay pale.

She has recorded as a harpsichordist and a singer for Tactus, Urania records, ArsPublica and Amadeus.

Since 2001 she has been the organist of St George’s Anglican Church in Venice.
