– Hidden Treasures of the Ospedaletto –
Neglected Treasures: Musical Gems for a Treasured Venetian Room
This concert will present musical gems that were written for and performed in the Sala della Musica of the Ospedaletto—one of the charitable hospices and music schools of Venice. Built in the 1770s, the exquisite Music Room was designed as an acoustically superb space that enabled the orphaned girls of the Ospedaletto to display their musical talents in public concerts. Our program, curated and introduced by musicologist Marica Tacconi (Pennsylvania State University), will include newly edited works, unheard for over two centuries.

This concert is generously funded by a research grant by the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.

Music by T. Traetta, A. Sacchini and P. Anfossi.
