– Echoes of Venice –
Composers active in Venice in the 17th century were often drawn to the spatial and acoustic possibilities afforded by music written with echo effects or in strict imitation. Whether writing for the reverberant Basilica of St. Mark or the halls of their patrons’ palazzi, these composers left us music that explores space and the element of surprise. Our program, curated and introduced by musicologist Marica Tacconi (Pennsylvania State University), will feature works that will delight the senses and lead you to wonder, “Where does that music come from?”

Music by C. Monteverdi, G.B. Riccio and H. Schütz
