SWANSONG
The spy, the libertine and the soldier: three singers of international renown, First Men of the theatres of Venice in the 18th century, acclaimed by the public and contended by the richest patrons of Europe for performances in their opulent courts; a glittering, glamorous mask envied by many, but hiding tears, blood and intrigue. Atto Melani, the French king’s spy, Alessandro Stradella, the noblewoman’s lover, and Kaspar Förster, the soldier of the Venetian Republic against the Turks, tell us with their own music the private life of a singer when the stage lights go out.
Music by Atto Melani, Alessandro Stradella and Kaspar Förster
