IN SEARCH OF FRANCESCA CUZZONI
Francesca Cuzzoni, Haendel’s first Cleopatra and Rodelinda, was one of the most famous sopranos of the Baroque period — not to mention the famous rival of Faustina Bordoni, the wife of Johann Hasse. During our musical archaeology, we have researched some of her lesser-known roles for your listening pleasure.
Music by G. Bononcini, N. Porpora, J. A. Hasse and G. F. Haendel
