A passionate patron of the arts and music, the Venetian cardinal Pietro Ottoboni surrounded himself in Rome with an intellectual court of the very highest calibre: Corelli, Metastasio, Scarlatti, and the great Handel. This programme centres on Handel’s cantatas for voice and orchestra, recreating an evening of music at the Palazzo della Cancelleria.
