Alexander Simpson – Countertenor

Alexander Simpson - CountertenorPraised for his ‘extraordinary stage presence’ and ‘sublimely melodic voice’, Alexander Simpson is a versatile young countertenor who has been earmarked as ‘the voice of his generation’ (The Times).

Recent operatic roles include Nireno Giulio Cesare (English Touring Opera), Cowslip Fairy Queen (Waterperry Opera Festival), Athamas Semele (Royal Academy of Music), Arsace Partenope (Iford Arts Festival), Arcane Teseo (London Handel Festival) and Refugee Flight (Royal Academy Opera).

Prizes include the Accademia Vivaldi Scholarship at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, the Rosalind Armstrong Prize and the Tony Lowrey Audience Prize in the Hurn Court Opera Singing Competition and the Rosenblatt Recitals Singing Prize.
Alexander gives masterclasses and recitals in some of the most prestigious European opera houses and collaborates regularly with Venice Music Project.

Alexander read Music at St John’s College, Cambridge. He went on to the Royal Academy of Music where he was awarded a full scholarship and graduated with a DipRAM for an outstanding final recital.
